Our Few Words

Following on from joining FM84 the wonderfully flamboyant Ollie Wride has come armed and ready with tunes of his own with Thanks In Advance.

After breaking through with Running In The Night the singer become more popular with each song he releases. After guest appearances and tracks this is the record that will finally give Ollie Wride the limelight he truly deserves. He’s proved his worth in the scene and stands out as possibly the best singer to grace the synthwave genre. Thanks In Advance finally gives us the chance for Ollie Wride to show his personality and talents by himself. Thanks In Advance starts off with one of the singles already released which is Never Live Without You; a catchy, fierce anthem. Another single Overcome is next which supplies true synthetic funk that pumps you’re blood like you’re fresh from an aerobics workout. Back To Life is an injection of energy with a quirky rock n roll kick to it. The Rising Tide is a calm powerhouse that continues the collection of beautiful vocals and kick ass music. Miracle Mile sounds like something that rocks like it belongs on the Transformers soundtrack sitting comfortably between Stan Bush songs.

Ollie brings things to a soft and tender atmosphere with the sensual Luna. I’m A Believer is certainly not a synthwave cover of Smash Mouth, but it’s a 80s work out that will make you break out the dumbbells and speedos and work that body. Hold On takes what’s familiar with songs like Luna and is appreciated as a songwriting gem in the form of a power ballad. The last song is the funk fuelled The Driver with that Pink Floyd guitar riff and that bouncing bass that is enriched with such an incredible chorus. Thanks In Advance has been a long time coming from Ollie Wride. His personality flows throughout the album and makes it a strong debut for a solo debut. These anthems will make you tune your volume to the max to the point your speakers will spark up and explode. Ollie’s style on and off the stages is completely admirable and adds such charm and flamboyant to the synthwave scene. This album should be charting higher; his voice is formidable and songs such as The Driver and Back To Life will keep rolling around your head. Thanks In Advance is a synthetic rock n roll masterpiece and we’re looking forward to seeing this live in London in November.
