Lifelike aka Laurent Ash is a French musician from Paris who is specialized in electronic music, particularly the House and Nu-disco. His compositions have the characteristic to get some sounds from Disco and New Wave from the 80s, but enriched by modern electronic sounds as well as fantastic bass lines.
In 2001, he released his first single ‘The Soul of My Love’ on Demon’s 20000ST Label in collaboration with Mandel Turner, a Soul singer from New York. Afterwards, his single ‘Black Chess’ made him enter into the very small circle of the ‘French Touch’ heroes, as it was played for months by the legendary Thomas Bangalter (silver side of Daft Punk) and his friend DJ Falcon (1/2 Together) during the ‘Together Tour’ in 2002. An event that allowed him to meet an exceptional German musician, Kris Menace (founder of ‘Work it Baby’). In 2005, they composed ‘Running Out’ but the single that made them known all over the world remain the timeless ‘Discopolis’, released on the biggest French underground label after ‘Roulé’, ‘Vulture’ founded by the legendary Alan Braxe (1/3 Stardust ‘). This track was a big success and was sold to more than 50,000 copies in 3 months, which resulted in a reissue on the English giant ‘Defected Records’ accompanied by a very sexy video made by Seb Janiak (director of ‘Burnin’ video of Daft Punk). Note that Laurent & Kris have collaborated another time in 2016 for ‘Ecstasy’ towards an Acid House direction and a revised version of ‘Discopolis’ with a new video. On ‘Wall of Sound’ (Tiga, Vitalic, 2 Many DJs, Felix Da Housecat) he released ‘So Electric’ which became a real symbol for the Synthwave generation, which enjoyed an enormous support from DJs. All this experience allowed him to create his own Label ‘Computer Science’ with a first single named ‘Love Emulator’. ‘Dont Stop’ with A-Trak was published on the prestigious Label Kitsuné, and it was released on Universal Music, which earned another sexy video. As a remixer he has also been coveted by many renowned artists such as Chromeo, Sia, Empire Of The Sun, Vitalic, Moby, The Presets, Cerrone and many others (more than 40). As a composer for other bands, he took care of the first album of the English band ‘Is Tropical’, the French ‘pop-in-pop’ and more recently the album of his favorite singer Yota. When Lifelike goes on tour in Clubs or Festivals, he goes all over the world heading from Europe to Australia and Asia to America. Almost all of his releases have had the support of Pete Tong and Annie Mac from BBC Radio 1 and from renowned magazines like DJ Mag and Future Music Magazine. He has just released two phenomenal tracks ‘Sexodrome’ and ‘Pacific Palisades’ but it’s important to say that it has just finished and signed his long awaited album called ‘Electronic Dreams’ on Universal Music. It should be out in a few months so stay connected, it will be huge!
